After teaching a class at San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center, I exited the building to see an unusual object in front of me. It was an interesting sight to see, in a completely empty courtyard, with no one around. I later found out that I was looking at the preparations for an art festival this weekend where this installation, called “Origin”, is being presented by United Visual Artists, with sound composed by Scanner.
Soul, Rock, Dirty Funk. This little chick has a voice so big she really does need an eight piece band to match. They just started a nationwide tour, and will be at a venue near you sometime in the next seven weeks. Here is a sampling from The Doors classic Roadhouse Blues.
At a recent Ground Under Radio event in Connecticut, the venue was an old farm property. The actual house is unoccupied. Far from the roads there are many old buildings. The main structure is converted from a chicken coop and expanded to about 2,000 square feet. Aside from containing a stage and two bars, the first floor is also a sort of museum of antiques, sorted into categories over the walls. A variety of vintage seating, tables, specialized appliances, equipment and other collected items populate the top floor.
Ada Pasternak is a Russian-born singer/songwriter/musician. American as apple-pie and just as sweet, she is something of a prodigy, and is attending Berklee College of Music on a full presidential scholarship.I recently helped her get a few tracks up on Youtube. Exceptionally entertaining and memorable, she just sparkles!
